Why use wool pads instead of foam or microfibre applicators?

Merino wool is naturally softer and more gentle on paintwork than foam or microfibre. The natural fibres hold and distribute products more evenly, provide better control during application, and are more durable. Wool is also eco-friendly and biodegradable.

Will these pads scratch my car's paint?

No! Genuine merino sheepskin is incredibly soft and gentle. When used with proper technique and adequate product, these pads won't cause scratches or swirl marks. They're safe for all paint types including delicate clear coats.

Can I use these pads with any polish or wax?

Absolutely! These wool pads work with all types of car polish, wax, sealants, and paint protection products. They're particularly effective with our ECO Paint Polish & Wax and ECO Spray Wax.

How do I clean the pads after use?

Rinse the pads thoroughly in warm water immediately after use to remove product residue. You can use a small amount of mild soap if needed. Gently squeeze out excess water (don't wring) and allow to air dry naturally. Never put them in the washing machine or dryer.

Can I use these pads with a machine polisher?

Yes, these pads can be used with machine polishers that accept 80mm (3-inch) pads via Velcro backing. However, not all machines are compatible with this size - many polishers require larger pads. Check your machine's specifications before use. For hand application, these pads work perfectly with our Deluxe Wooden Polishing & Waxing Handle for easier, more comfortable use.

How long will these pads last?

With proper care, genuine merino wool pads can last for many years. The natural fibres are incredibly resilient. Replace them when you notice significant thinning, matting, or if the wool starts to break down.

Do these work with the wooden handle?

Yes! These pads are designed to work perfectly with our Deluxe Wooden Polishing & Waxing Handle. Simply attach the pad to the handle for easier, more comfortable application with better control.

Are these better than synthetic applicator pads?

Yes, for several reasons. Wool is softer and safer for paintwork, distributes products more evenly, lasts longer with proper care, and is environmentally friendly. Many professional detailers prefer natural wool for premium results.

How much product should I use with these pads?

A little goes a long way! Apply a small amount (approximately the size of a 10p coin) of polish or wax to the pad. The wool fibres will hold and distribute the product efficiently, so you don't need to overload the pad.

Can I use these on matte paint finishes?

Yes, these pads are gentle enough for matte finishes. However, always check that the polish or wax you're using is suitable for matte paint, as some products can add unwanted shine to matte surfaces.

Why do I get two pads in a set?

Having two pads allows you to use one for polish and one for wax, preventing product contamination. It also means you always have a clean pad ready while the other is drying after washing.

Are these eco-friendly?

Yes! Merino wool is a natural, renewable, and biodegradable material. Unlike synthetic foam or microfibre pads made from petroleum-based materials, wool has a much lower environmental impact and breaks down naturally.
